President’s Welcome

Welcome to the King’s College Hospital Nurses’ League website.  2024 is our centenary year and  we are so proud of our League which continues to work hard for all our members as well as current nursing staff.

The founding aims of our League still remain relevant and important to us today and the website is one way by which we help to keep members in touch with one another and the wider King’s community. We continue to send out an annual Journal full of news and other articles of interest, and more recently we have sent occasional email newsletters and over recent months have been inviting members to meet together on Zoom which has helped ease the isolation of lockdown for many. We have a well established Facebook page and you can also find us on Twitter.

The work of the Benevolent Fund and the Educational Grants Trust enables us to offer support to nurses both retired and still active in nursing – and if you or anyone you know would benefit from these funds please do encourage them to get in touch with us. We held our Centenary Reunion and AGM on Saturday 11th May 2024, and had a wonderful day.  Tracey Carter, Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Midwifery, King’s College Hospital Foundation Trust and two of her senior nursing  colleagues spoke at the morning lecture, bringing us up to date with changes in nursing practice at King’s.

We were also honoured to have the Rt Revd Christopher Chessun, Bishop of Southwark as our guest, and to speak at our service in St Luke’s Chapel at King’s.

The recordings of the morning lecture and the chapel service will be uploaded to the Annual Reunion 2024 page under the Events tab as soon as they are available, and there will be a full report of the day in next year’s Journal.
